The countdown has begun. We will offically launch in 3 days! Congratulations to the State Operators who have joined us at such an early stage. You have been hard at work developing your states’ online towns. We look forward to working with you throughout 2009 to improve the functionality of all the OurLocalPages.com online towns.
An October 2008 survey by MaretingProfs, of 600 US marketers, found that 60% planned to increase their spending on online advertising in reaction to the downturn.
What is behind the bullish projections for online ad spending, especially when most traditional media are taking the financial equivalent of body blows?” The seven reasons are as follows:
1. The Internet is inherently more measurable and accountable than are traditional channels.
2. The Internet allows for better, more-granular targeting than do other forms of media. That reduces media waste and can save marketing dollars.
3. The Internet is interactive, thereby allowing for a higher degree of engagement with consumer and business prospects and customers.
4. Particularly among younger consumers, the Internet is accounting for a larger and larger share of total media time; numerous studies demonstrate that teens, millennials and other younger cohorts are spending more time online per week than they are watching television.
5. The Internet plays into the consumer-in-control movement and therefore provides new opportunities for marketers to be a part of their conversations about interests, attitudes, shopping plans and even brands.
6. New Web 2.0 phenomena such as blogs, social networks and Twitter provide marketers with the potential to gain rich insights into consumer behavior and attitudes (the Internet is like a perpetual focus group on steroids).
7. The Internet, unlike any other medium or channel, allows marketers to reach prospects throughout the entire consumer buying cycle, from initial awareness through pre-information-gathering to sales and post-sale feedback and support.
Dynamic Town-based media portals provide a mash-up of news, videos, pictures, jobs, and events relevant to your community.
Charlottesville, VA (PRWEB) November 23, 2008 — It’s a Local Thing… That is the mantra coming from OurLocalPages.com, the newest creation of the Virginia-based web development firm, CS3 Solutions LLC. OurLocalPages.com powers over 32,000 town-based media portals that serve up relevant news, videos, pictures, jobs, events, and classifieds allowing local residents to interact with each other through user-generated media.
Why local media portals? “It’s all about community.” says Carl Stacy, president of CS3 Solutions. “Many small to mid-sized towns in the US still don’t have a local portal to call their own. Your town may be small, but relevant information is out there, it just may take some time to find. By aggregating that information into a single destination and providing ways for residents to interact with that information not only gives the community a focused online media outlet, but an open community publishing platform as well. With the proliferation ofRSS feeds and application programming interfaces, we began to see ways to build local, useful interactive communities that provide real value for both the end-user and local businesses.”
According to eMarketer, local and national businesses advertising in local markets will spend $7.8 billion in 2011. “We are offering free, open, online communities to small towns nationwide while also providing a business opportunity for the growing “work from home” workforce.” says Carl Stacy. “The way ad-space is sold onOurLocalPages.com is very community oriented as well.”
Ad-space is sold through independent Local Operators. OurlocalPages.com Local Operators are independent marketing reps, entrepreneurs, organizations or local businesses who sponsor their town’s portal in exchange for exclusive rights to market the ad-space. The Local Operator network is being developed byOurLocalPages.com State Operators. The State Operator-ship is a franchise-like opportunity available to 50 people/businesses nationwide, one per state. State Operator positions will be filled throughout 2009. Learn more about the State Operator opportunity here: http://www.ourlocalpages.com/info.cfm.
OurLocalPages.com beta will be officially launched on Jan 1st, 2009, but has already seen rapid growth in small to mid-sized towns nationwide.
